Meylis is one of our outstanding 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Game volunteers who has taken part in several events both in Ashgabat and abroad. As with many First Stars, Meylis studies at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and has just finished his second year of University.

In 2016, Meylis was selected to volunteer at the VI International Sports Games “Children of Asia” in Yakutia, Russia. Meylis attended this event to gain international volunteering experience during his summer holidays and learnt many skills which he has been able to use at other events. Meylis Saparov said: “Until Yakutia, I knew what volunteering was but I wanted to experience it first hand which is why I decided to go. I was so excited to explore everything that relates to volunteering and started my volunteer journey there”.

Meylis tells us that: “As a volunteer in Russia, I made some great new friends, learnt new skills and was also able to make use of my foreign language skills, in particular English and Russian. After the closing ceremony of the VI International Sports Games “Children of Asia”, me and other volunteers from Turkmenistan had a cultural and historical tour around of the city too, it was such a great experience.”

Since 2016, Meylis has continued to volunteer at a several test events across many functional areas, including workforce and event services but his favourite has been accreditation.

At the Games time, Meylis will be an Accreditation Team Leader where all his skills, knowledge and valuable experience from Yakutia and other events in Ashgabat will help him make Ashgabat 2017 the greatest AIMAG to date.
