5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Chefs de Mission Seminar is underway in Ashgabat

Representatives of 54 NOCs have arrived in Ashgabat over the last few days to attend the Chef de Mission Seminar, scheduled from 4 – 8 April.
Over the course of their stay in Turkmenistan the representatives of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games participating NOC will have a chance to familiarize with the location and the planning ahead of September.
The event provides the NOCs with an opportunity to gather information about Games-time operation and services, with a particular focus on providing the best environment for their athletes.
The Chairman of 5th AIMAG Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev said: “The Chef de Mission Seminar proved to be extremely successful two days of meetings. The Chefs were very impressed by the venues and the Ashgabat Olympic Complex. It is the Executive Committees priority to focus on athletes as we prepare for the Games in September, and over the course of the Seminar we were able to show the progress made and reiterate our goal to deliver the best ever AIMAG.”
The Chefs took part in a variety of plenary sessions and one to one meetings aimed at clarifying all aspects of planning for the Games.
Korean Sport & Olympic Committee Deputy Manager, Ms. Isak Hwang said: “With just under six months to go to the Games, these days are really important for our planning and it was great to gather information about the final planning stages. We have been very impressed with the work done by the 5th AIMAG Executive Committee and look forward to being back in September.”
Mr Kesang Phuntsho Tshering, Bhutan Chef de Mission commented: “The Chef de Mission seminar has supplied us with updates across a variety of areas including venues, athletes village services, transport and many more, leaving us very pleased with the progress we have seen.”

“This is a fruitful two day seminar with many constructive proposals and ideas exchange. It’s a good opportunity for 62 NOCs to understand the Executive Committee’s processes and capabilities for the preparation of the Games.”
As part of the seminar the Chefs will be travelling to Awaza where they are invited to the ‘AIMAG – 2017: Cooperation in international sport for peace and development’ conference on 7 April to be opened by His Excellency Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan. While on the Caspian coast, the delegates will also have a chance to attend the opening of the Awaza Sport Complex, a world class set of sport facilities.
